Port Blair, June 9: The Electricity Department, A&N Administration is pleased to inform the general public of A&N Islands that reduced Electricity Tariff shall be applicable to the Consumers under Domestic, Commercial and Industrial categories consumers to become prosumers (producing consumers) by installing Solar PV on their building roofs or other available areas.

Port Blair, June 9: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), Gurgaon has approved the retail tariff for Financial Year 2020-21 in A&N Islands with effect from 1st June 2020 vide its Order dated 18th May, 2020.

Port Blair, June 9: Hump sore caused by a filarial worm is a common problem of cattle in Andaman and Nicobar islands. This disease is chronic in nature and causes loss of milk production. To control the disease, scientists of Animal Science Division, ICAR-CIARI have developed one treatment schedule under the project entitled "Molecular signature of eco-sustainability of indigenous livestock breeds of Andaman and Nicobar islands" through a combination of medicine after conducting trials in organized herd and farmers' field.

Port Blair, June 8: To meet the increasing demand of business fraternity of the islands, especially since the lockdown, when it had been difficult to get cargo in the isles from mainland India as well as export the local sea products, Spicejet Ltd. arrived in Port Blair with its Maiden Cargo Aircraft, Boeing 737800 from Chennai, with approx 11 tonnes cargo on 7th June 2020. Spicejet flew back with apprx 8.5 tonnes of return cargo. Many more such cargo flights to be operated soon on demand and to cater to the need of the business community of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
